Suzuki Program
Ages 3 years and older
Individual lessons to be arranged with instructor.
Instrument Instruction available for: violin, viola, cello, flute, and recorder.
The Suzuki Method of instruction is based on the 'mother-tongue' approach, using recordings and the postponement of music reading to focus on technique and sound in music study. A student, therefore, is able to begin very early making parent involvement vital and necessary. There is a set repertoire which builds as the student learns more technique. Group lessons are an integral part of the music learning experience allowing the student to observe peers and to participate with other children.
Dr. Shinichi Suzuki's philosophy for growing musicians is based on the strength of the child-parent-teacher triad. The Conservatory Suzuki String Program(violin, viola, cello) starts with a four-week series of parent classes and continues with a student/parent individual lesson and group session each week. Acceptance into the program will be based upon an interview with an instructor to determine readiness.
The Suzuki program requires a full academic year commitment. Private lessons are $29 per half hour and teachers will schedule between 30 and 34 lessons for the academic year. Group class fees are $300 and include a minimum of 24 group lessons. Attendance at group classes is mandatory.
Registration can be started at any time. There's no need to wait for next Fall. Please call for more information.
