Jasmine Chang

Cello, Bass, & Piano

Jasmine (Wei-Ting) Chang, originally from Taiwan, embarked on her musical journey with piano lessons at age 5 before her musical talents led her to audition successfully for the music school at age 7. This pivotal moment marked the beginning of her dual training in both piano and cello. It wasn't until the age of 15, upon arriving in the US, that she fully embraced the cello as her primary instrument under the guidance of Bongshin Ko from Cal State University Fullerton.

Her dedication resulted in the honor of becoming the First Prize Winner at the Musical Arts of Orange County Annual Audition, organized by the American String Teachers Association. Continuing her education at the Jacob School of Music (Indiana University), she was mentored by Emilio Colon, obtaining her Bachelor's Degree.

Presently, Jasmine's role as the primary lower string teacher and orchestra assistant at Yinghua Academy is intertwined with her pursuit of a DMA in Cello Performance at the University of Minnesota. Her academic achievements include a Master of Music degree and Artist Diploma from the Frost School of Music (University of Miami), where she studied with Ross Harbaugh from the Bergonzi String Quartet. Additionally, she earned recognition as a Mancini Fellowship Scholar at the Henry Mancini Institute.

Jasmine's journey in music has encompassed orchestras, symphonies, and masterclasses, shaped by the guidance of accomplished mentors such as Bernard Greenhouse, Peter Stumpf, Eric Kim, Crispin Campbell, and Yehuda Hanani. Her dedication extends beyond performance, as she finds fulfillment in nurturing emerging talents and cultivating a people-centric approach.
