Lauren Husting is a versatile freelance trombonist and educator working across the Twin Cities in multiple genres from classical and chamber to jazz and pop. She performs with the Paper Clips, a trombone quartet dedicated to the Motown sound, Resinosa Brass, Temple of the Nu, and the Adam Meckler Orchestra. She holds degrees from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and the University of North Texas. Most recently, she became the first certified Suzuki brass teacher in the state of Minnesota on both trombone and euphonium, and looks forward to building the Suzuki brass family at SPCM and beyond. Her traditional students have performed in local and state honor groups, youth ensembles, and contests, and many have gone on to careers in music or maintained a joy of performing for fun in college and their adult years. She believes that every student is musical, with an innately human and personal creative voice.
