Sam Rudy has been a staple in the Midwest classical music scene since receiving his Master’s in Music Theory and Bachelor’s in Performance from the University of Minnesota under Mark Bjork. He grew up in the Suzuki method as a pupil of Monica Nieves, and has taken teacher training at the Chicago Suzuki Institute and Aber Suzuki Center for the Arts. As a founding member of Lux String Quartet, he championed music education in schools throughout the metro area and at the Oskaloosa Music Festival. Sam has held posts with Orchestra Iowa, South Dakota Symphony, and other regional orchestras in addition to local collaborations with Macalester College, the Oratorio Society, 113 Composers’ Collective, and the Twin Cities Gay Men’s Chorus. He currently nurtures a studio of violinists and violists in the Twin Cities as well as continuing to perform with the Quad City Symphony.
